Welcome to the Website of the PILLBOX STUDY GROUP

First of all the PSG is a group for those who believe that that `History` did not end with the dawning of the 20th Century and that defences and fortifications built of `CONCRETE` are important, as well as those built of stone or brick.

The humble if ubiquitous PILLBOX is, of course, the first example of a defensive work seen by most people. Which is not surprising as over 18,000 were constructed across the British Isles to resist the Nazi Invader during Hitler's proposed `Operation Sealion`, the planned German Invasion of England set for 1940.

It is the aim of this website to introduce you to some of the more common World War 2Anti-Invasion Structures that you are likely to find still littered around our countryside and to give you an idea of the reasoning behind its particular location. We are particularly interested in recruiting new members and relish the chance to explore any new sites that you can tell us about.
